Tragopan Festival & Rhododendron Week

Bhutan celebrates its natural heritage not only through preservation, but through meaningful community-led experiences that invite travelers to connect deeply with the land and its people.

The Tragopan Festival 2026, held from 27–29 March 2026, is a unique cultural and conservation celebration dedicated to the Himalayan Tragopan—one of Bhutan’s most iconic and endangered birds. Rooted in local traditions, the festival brings together wildlife conservation, community participation, and immersive tourism experiences. Visitors can engage with local communities, learn about conservation initiatives, and experience age-old customs that have protected Bhutan’s fragile ecosystems for generations.

Following this, Rhododendron Week will take place in Sheytimi, Trashigang, from 3–9 April 2026. This vibrant springtime celebration showcases Bhutan’s national flower in full bloom, set against breathtaking rhododendron forests. Guests are invited to enjoy nature walks, cultural performances, and authentic village experiences, all while witnessing one of Bhutan’s most colorful seasonal transformations.

By participating in these events, your visit directly supports community-based tourism, conservation efforts, and the preservation of Bhutan’s rich natural and cultural heritage—ensuring these landscapes and traditions continue to thrive for generations to come.
