Fishing Permits and Regulations in Bhutan:

Various water bodies are categorized as “masheer water” or “trout water,” as well as “normal fishing” and “high-end fishing.” Permit fees vary significantly based on the type of water.
Permits can be obtained for a single day or an extended period, up to one year for normal fishing and one month for high-end fishing.
Fishing is prohibited during the first and fourth sacred months of the Bhutanese lunar calendar (typically January-February and May-June) on a normal permit, but allowed on a high-end permit.
During the breeding period, fishing is prohibited—June to August for masheer and November to December for trouts.
Catch and release fishing is the only permitted method, and trophy fishing is strictly forbidden.
